Most athletes feel their legs very tired and sore after 3 days of hard racing – but despite the pain the moods are good and everybody is excited about the awesome routes.
Iain Don Wauchope still holds the yellow jersey after 4 days of hard racing in the Southern Storm. His overall lead however is under threat due to a very strong field closing in from behind.
Hanlie Booyens had mechanical problems and thus could not capitalize on her mountain biking strengths coming in 2nd in today’s race behind Sue Don Wauchope who gained another 12 minutes over Hanlie. Christine Woods came in third followed by the Scott sisters.
South African Endurance and Comrades legend and Hi-Tec sponsored athlete Nick Bester dominates the Veteran Race and ranks 4th amongst all males. Paul Wolff, well known iron man athlete was going very strong today and finished in second place.
Alan Martin who ranked 9th in the VET category on the OTTER gets stronger by the day and finished yesterday and today in 4th position which puts him into 7th position overall. Another athlete in the OPEN category is Francois Malan who seems to get stronger and stronger. Finishing the OTTER in 20th position he finished day 3 in 15th position and today’s race in 11th position.
