“Hi, My name is Stuart and I am taking abuse left right and centre!” I feel like i am at an AA meeting … (and thats all in my past ok, i have grown up a lot since then) … and it’s all because after four months of training I chose to not throw myself once more into the breech my friend and to not get up and train.
The words “sleep in!” echo’d in my mind as i rolled over to “kipp”. The weekend began with a Friday night’s dop and chop braai with the crew and then an early ride in the craddle with my Lifestruck IRONMAN beginners (www.lifestruck.co.za) and then the bus to the rugger! What is it about getting into a bus of mates to the game that makes you forget that you are a responsible adult and you decided to chugg beers like a varisty student (There was a lot of banter there, most of it around the older we get the better we were!) Well done to Alice for surviving 20 drunken 30 something teenagers! Soccer City is AMAZING! OMW! 93 000 people and a whole lot of fun (except of course for the ref and the fact that we lost)
… so needless to say, when i got home, carbo loaded and weary, I was excited about sleeping in … and guess what 545am … AWAKE! Got to love the body clock … followed by phone calls (the crew en route) and then the follow up SMS’s and calls to see wether in fact there are options on Southern Storm to just “skip a day” when you arent up for it …”
I am rambling … and to quote Kudu Minton …”Dude my legs are sore!” The rest has been good. I am feeling strong and looking forward to the next two weeks of serious CRUNCH before i make my way down to meet you all.
Good luck! If you need to chat to me, drop me an email stuart@lifestruck.tv – and I just checked in this morning … 34:20:43:47 (34 days, 20 hours, 43 minutes … 47 seconds)
Take a rest day! it is mint!
IAM Minton. (Stu)
Talking of “up for it” congrats to Porra and his new “MOOD RING” given by Dolph Minton (Greg Kockott) the story goes that when Porra decided he wasn’t going to take one of the loops up a hill at Teak place this weekend … “’cause he wasn’t in the mood” … the lads chipped in to by him a mood ring for southern storm.
The Otter- African Trail Run is the only time during the year where runners can legally run the full length of the OTTER in 1 day.
