SANParks, having taken very careful consideration of the environmental concerns, have given Magnetic South permission to organise "The Otter" African Trail Run as Stage One of the Multi Stage, 6 Day, Mountain Biking/Trail Running Duathlon to be known as “The Southern Storm”. The event starts at Storms River in the Tsitsikamma section of the Garden Route National Park, crosses several other SAN Park properties and ends at the Touw River in the Wilderness section.
Cape Nature – Land Access
CapeNature manages 29 provincial nature reserves in the Western Cape, offering tranquil accommodation and splendid day-visiting opportunities. Numerous activities such as hiking, angling and mountain biking can be enjoyed. Our reserves also provide great event venues and filming locations. Other treasures include mega reserves, wilderness areas, a world heritage site and a biosphere reserve. This makes the Western Cape one of the hottest biodiversity hotspots in the world!
MTO Forestry process high quality pine and veneer saw logs for the manufacturing of different products. MTO Forestry is privately owned, with Cape Timber Resources owning 75%, Safcol 16% and the 9% balance being held by the Employee Share Trust and a significant employer and important part of the economy of the Western Cape. Commercial forestry, like most other forms of agriculture, has an impact on the environment. Therefore, MTO operations adheres to stringent environmental standards set by the International Forestry Stewardship Council.
